COLLABORATION WITH

PROJECT

The Atmosphere Collaborative at Design ID 2016

Ayush created an intriguing hanging sculpture that happens to have use as both a chair and a swing, the Loom Swing has multiple cultural references. Taking inspiration from the cascading threads of the Jacquard loom, sending patterns from the punch cards to the warp and weft, the traditional charpoy (bed) that are woven with webbing (niwar), and the wooden embroidery hoop, used by artisans across India, the chair is both artistic and practical.

FEATURED FABRIC

Margherita

A densely woven satin Margherita is strong and flexible. The fabric has high shine with luxurious hand and a sophisticated lustre. An interesting use of colour strips enable us to tell two visual stories in one piece. Seen here is natural dyed indigo and madder.
