COLLABORATION WITH

PROJECT

Flagship Store at 1 Sunny House, Colaba

The new flagship store is a vision brought to life, both visually and experientially. The store in Colaba not only retails our fine fabrics, but also carries a range of home accessories and linens. We wanted this store to be special. Retail in Bombay, especially in the Colaba and Kalaghoda areas is exploring new grounds and there are many interesting brands, both big and small that have changed the face of retail in India over the years.

Since we were moving from a location we'd stayed with for over 12 year, I thought it was a perfect opportunity for a complete makeover. When Rajiv asked me what I wanted the store to be like, the answer was quite simple-"like-home", and Rajiv's ability to blend materials beautifully has helped us achieve an interesting warm palette, that is easy to live with. The entrance level showcases our primary products of draperies and upholsteries and the upper level is dedicated to decorative pillows, luxury linens, throws and bedspreads.

Having more space has also enabled us to create a private enclosure for long running co-ordinations/meetings. I'm so glad that we chose to collaborate with Rajiv for this store; I couldn't have imagined it any other way.

"Atmosphere fabrics, for me, have always stood for impeccable quality and the best in design

and I wanted the store to be a testimonial to that. The sequence of spaces at the store have been choreographed more like a private house, moving from a salon like ground floor, to more private sleeping quarters on the upper level, showcasing bed linens. The rhythm of windows at the store, from front to back, was my starting point of design. I wanted these tall arches to become elegant sentinels that offer the Atmosphere's clients a place to pause and relax in, and soak up the atmosphere. I've combined a palette of warm wood, polished plaster walls, bronze details and marble accents. Akanksha's enthusiasm and obsession for perfection was almost infectious. It was a pleasure working with someone who had a fine eye for detail and made sure there was no compromise at all, either in design, or it's execution."
